About Baltimore Maryland and
Baltimore Real Estate Properties
Baltimore has become the industrial and cultural center of Baltimore
and is named after its founder, Lord Baltimore. During the early
1800s, Baltimore was the second leading port of immigrants and
new residents and became one of the leading seaports on the
eastern coast. Shielded from most tropical storms by the Peninsula
as well as the Appalachian Mountains, Baltimore enjoys a great
mild climate that is much different from most of the eastern
seaboard.
In the late 1700s, Baltimore was the second largest city in
the US after New York and remained one of the ten largest cities
in the country until 1980. Although the population has stagnated
over the past decades, Baltimore is still considered one of
the top twenty cities in population in the entire country.
